This is great for breakfast on whole grain bread, as a snack on crackers, or served with bread at dinner. It's a healthy satisfaction for the sweet tooth!


Yam Butter




1/2 cup onion, sautéed until soft

1 medium-sized yam

2-3 Tbls raw sesame tahini

2 tsp miso

reserved yam cooking water




Peel the yam and cut into 1-inch chunks. Place in a small pot with enough water to cover, bring to a boil, and simmer until yam is tender. Place all ingredients, except the yam cooking water in a food processor, or in a bowl for use with a hand blender. Blend until smooth and creamy, adding the reserved cooking water to achieve the desired consistency.
