EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ACCEPTS
NEW POSITION
(Clearwater, Florida) October 29, 2004 . . .
. . . Dale Schmidt, Executive Director of Clearwater Marine Aquarium, announced
his resignation last Friday in order to accept the position of President/CEO of
the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport, Oregon.
Schmidt has been with Clearwater Marine Aquarium for a year.
“I
actually began a dialogue with Oregon Coast Aquarium before coming here,”
Schmidt said. “It was fortunate for me
the way things worked out because this year has been amazing. I will never forget the people here. I am grateful to have been part of such a
dedicated team. I hope I was able to
assist in laying the foundation to take this institution to the next level.”
The
board of directors will initiate a search for a new executive director
soon. Schmidt will remain at Clearwater
Marine Aquarium through November 12th.
Gerri Raymond will
serve as acting executive director upon Schmidt’s departure. Raymond has been with Clearwater Marine
Aquarium for eight years serving as the Director of Development and Community
Relations. Prior to joining CMA,
Raymond was with the Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Long
Center.

organization dedicated to environmental preservation and education.
